The Intrepid has an annual Summer Movie Series in which they play a selection of classic movies on the flight deck during the warm summer evenings. People are encouraged to bring deck chairs, picnics and chill out with their friends in a really unique atmosphere.
This year they kicked it off by showing Top Gun, which in my opinion you can’t get a more appropriate movie to watch on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier! The queue was pretty big when we arrived but the event was well worth the wait. The best part about it was the screening was free…I’d have easily paid good money to do something like this but I imagine they avoid the legalities involved in showing a movie by doing it free of charge.
